On Saturday, the Ensminger Lab was host to the Canadian Association for Girls in Science (CAGIS). It was exciting to show the girls around the lab and showcase what we do!

This last week was the Canadian Society of Plant Biologists’ Annual Conference at the University of Laval in Quebec City! Our lab members Qi, Emilie, Bridget, Siyu, Anchalya and Noelle went and all presented talks and posters in various sessions throughout the week. Bridget got an honourable mention for the President’s Award in recognition of
Congrats to Bridget on the award for her oral presentation at the 2022 AGU conference ! In her presentation, titled: “Coming in hot: increased carbon losses and reduced growth under warming in two genotypes of field-grown white spruce” ! Bridget presented her work on climate change impacts and the effect of warming in different white spruce
Grad students Siyu, Bridget, Anchalya and Noelle represented the Ensminger lab wonderfully at the Canadian Society of Plant Biologists Eastern Regional Meeting! They were the first talks of the day in the same session and and gave everyone an understanding on their amazing work on conifer biology and abiotic stress. Speaking of stress, it seems
Congrats Bridget on the award for best oral presentation at the 2021 CSPB/SCBV Annual General Meeting! Bridget presented her work on climate change impacts and the effect of warming and drought on the timing of cold acclimation in different white spruce genotypes. In her talk she showed first results from her Ph.D. thesis project. This included
On Friday January 08, 2021 Devin defended his MSc thesis. The committee was impressed by the breadth of methods Devin had used and how he integrated the various types of data to evaluate how conifers manage water and temperature stress. Well done Devin!
After his research seminar and final oral exam, Chris follows the UTM Biology tradition and adds his signature on one of the stem discs in the UTM Biology hallway. Well done! Chris successfully defended his PhD thesis, but due to the Covid 19 situation, this was a very different event. Just a few days before
