Ensminger Lab at CSPB 2025 in Halifax, Nova Scotia 🌲🐋

From August 9–12, members of the Ensminger Lab travelled to Halifax, Nova Scotia, to participate in the Canadian Society for Plant Biologists’ CSPB 2025 Conference. This annual meeting brings together plant scientists from across Canada and beyond to share cutting-edge research, network, and explore the latest advances in plant biology.

Nova Scotia’s capital, Halifax, provided a beautiful backdrop for the event, with its Atlantic coastline, historic waterfront, and vibrant cultural scene.

In the Abiotic Stress I: Ecophysiology and Climate Change session, two members of our team presented their research:

  • Anchalya Balasubramaniam (Ph.D. student) presented: Warmer Autumns Delay the Development of Photoprotective Sustained Non-Photochemical Quenching (NPQ) in White Spruce. (Photo1)
  • Dr. Emilie Isasa (Postdoctoral researcher) presented: Microtopography and soil moisture gradients drive variation in turgor loss point and growth in white spruce. (Photo2)

Congratulations to both for representing the lab and contributing to an engaging discussion on how climate change impacts tree ecophysiology! 🌱🌍
