Congratulations Dr. Wong: Chris defends his PhD thesis

After his research seminar and final oral exam, Chris follows the UTM Biology tradition and adds his signature on one of the stem discs in the UTM Biology hallway.

Well done!

Chris successfully defended his PhD thesis, but due to the Covid 19 situation, this was a very different event. Just a few days before UofT had ended all in-person classroom events. Following these measures, all other meetings including final oral exams shifted to new procedures, making in-person attendance of the examination committee optional. As a result, Chris gave his exit seminar and in front of crowd of four, and most of his committee members attending via video conference. Despite the odd circumstances he remained calm and delivered a great seminar on “Multi-scale Remote Assessment of Phenology of Photosynthesis and Productivity of Northern Forests”.

Chris will stay with the lab until the end of May before moves to the University of California Davis for Postdoc position where he will continute to work on remote sensing of vegetation and plant physiology.
