Areej is a specialist undergraduate student in Comparative Physiology at the University of Toronto Mississauga. Her academic interests include evolutionary biology, human and plant physiology, and the responses of plants to environmental pressures. In the Ensminger Lab, her goal is to understand how varying environmental conditions affect the ecological and physiological performance of white spruce trees. Within this framework, Areej is examining drought responses by studying turgor loss point (TLP), leaf reflectance, and other factors that shape photosynthetic performance and water relations. Outside of her academic interests, she enjoys traveling the world, spending quality time with family and friends, shopping, and swimming.
