Profile

Maia is an undergraduate student at the University of Toronto pursuing a double major in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology as well as Cell and Molecular Biology. In her 3rd year thesis project, she examined natural selection on seed longevity in Amaranthus tuberculatus in the Weis lab at the University of Toronto. Previously, she has also participated in the SpruceUp project in the Cooke lab at the University of Alberta, with a focus on plant microscopy. She is very excited to have received an NSERC USRA in the Ensminger lab this summer and is looking forward to doing field work at the Koffler Scientific Reserve and continuing her microscopy work. In her spare time, she enjoys playing the guitar and fiddle.
